“A girl can have the face of an angel but have a horrid sort of heart.”

Before Briony's stepmother died, she made sure Briony blamed herself for all the family's hardships. Now Briony has worn her guilt for so long it's become a second skin. She often escapes to the swamp, where she tells stories to the Old Ones, the spirits who haunt the marshes. But only witches can see the Old Ones, and in her village, witches are sentenced to death. Briony lives in fear her secret will be found out, even as she believes she deserves the worst kind of punishment.
Then Eldric comes along with his golden lion eyes and mane of tawny hair. He's as natural as the sun, and treats her as if she's extraordinary. And everything starts to change. As many secrets as Briony has been holding, there are secrets even she doesn't know.

Briony is Seventeen years old Witch , or well it's what her thinks. She hates herself so much that she need to now that she had to hate herself. She is the reason Rose act like peculiar behavior, She is the girl whom called up a wind to dump her twin sister Rose out of a swing when they were little. She is the girl whom called Munky Face and caused Stepmother has injured her spine, She is the girl who burn her library and injure her hand so it left a mark upon it. and She is the girl whom can talk to Brownie and all the wicked things and the Old Ones.
She is always doing something because of jealous, Briony plus Swamp plus Jealous is an exploded mix.

"It was jealous, of course. Jealousy makes you fell small as a splinter. Jealousy makes you feel empty, makes you want to reach Brownie."

But then came Eldric from London with his not-so-bad-boy-attitude and his lioness. Living with her,Rose and Father in the parsonage, change everything about the Parsonage. Briony started to fall in love with Eldric, and so do Eldric. And here comes Leanne, trying to steal Eldric away. Briony over her jealous again, she wants to be Eldirc number one friends.

"I was jealous, wasn't I? I wanted to be Eldric's only friends. But that's not the way the world works, Briony. You have only one friend, But regular people have dozens.
But Briony has been Eldirc's friend. They make a Fraternitus and Fraternitus share secret, and yet Briony still scared to tell Eldirc that she's a witch. She's afraid of being hanged. And she know, witch having a friend it's not easy matter. She is the girl who gave her blood to Buggy Man, causing Rose had a swamp cough. Even she is the girl who causing Stepmother, die.

I remember giving this book 2 stars and telling that I really hate this book, well after reading this, I know it's the writing style that make me hate books, it written in English-UK style that I didn't get it and hard for my brain to digest. But finishing this book is really amazing, I love the storyline, I love Eldric and Rose. I didn't like Briony at first for hating herself so much.

Briony and Eldric's blossoming romance was captivating and - dare I say it - something that had not been done before. Eldric calls himself a resident "bad boy,"; yet, he is unlike any other "bad" boy we have come to know in YA literature. Eldric is a gentleman who is kind, honest, friendly, and funny. He becomes Briony's friend first and Briony, believing that she in incapable of love, does not see him as anything more than that for much of the novel. It is evident to the reader that Eldric likes Briony very much; however, as the novel is told from Briony's perspective, we cannot help but doubt him and question Briony's own feelings towards him as she does not know them herself. Eldric is so easy to fall in love with and, despite his evident weaknesses and flaws, has become one of my favorite male characters in YA literature.

Out of everywords I've ever say about this book, I take it back. and I give it 3 out of 5stars. :)
