‘If she’d waited less than two weeks, she’d be June who died in June. But I guess my sister didn’t consider that.’
Everyone's sorry. But no one can explain why. Harper Scott's older sister, June, took her own life a week before high school graduation, leaving Harper devastated.
So when her divorcing parents decide to split up June's ashes, Harper steals the urn and takes off cross-country with her best friend, Laney, to the one place June always dreamed of going--California. Enter Jake Tolan, a boy with a bad attitude, a classic-rock obsession...and an unknown connection to June.
When he insists on joining them, Harper's just desperate enough to let him. With his alternately charming and infuriating demeanor and his belief that music can see you through anything, he might be exactly what Harper needs. Except...Jake's keeping a secret that has the power to turn her life upside down--again.

June was always had the best live ever, she is the daughter every parents wished for. So it makes no sense when Harper found her in the car, dead. suicide. She didn't knew why would June killed her self for. She didn't left any messages for her, or anything that will tell the family whats happen to her.

It's when Harper found a landscaped of California's postcard in June's room and found ' California, I'm coming home.' written behind it and a mix CD 'Nolite te Bastardes Carborundorum' written on it. With Laney she decided to bring June's ash so she could fulfill June's dream.
Then she met Jake, the boys who gave June's the mix CD, He insists to go with them, he is the boy June's tutoring. Knowing that it such a opportunity since Laney's car was broken so she decided that Jake can came with them to California.

Knowing that her mother would never let her go to California, she decided to sneaks out. In her journey to California, Harper, Laney and Jake meets new people, learn a new lesson. But nothing as easy as they thought. California was way farther from Grand Lake.

And behind everything that happen. there's always been a secret and question.  And a sense of guilt that haunts Harper, the guilt because she can't be like June and never show up that she loves June.

Life goes on, I’m going on, even without her. Not every day hurts. Not every breath hurts.
Maybe that’s all we can really ask for.

Can Harper bring June ash to California? Can Harper knows the answer and reveal the secret? It's all in the way to Saving June.

Saving June was great. I love the story. I really wish I could have a sister like June. And Harper, she is a careless person. She doesn't have a faith in God, she smoke and drink. But beside that, she is a great sister. She loves June even though the night before she found June's died she has a fight with her. Saving June teach me that we all have a problem and sometimes we're wrong about person.
The writing in Saving June was good too. It's the ending that makes me disappointed.
